Taylor Robert Hollister Race Report

Hey guys,

I’m just getting back and getting all my stuff cleaned up from an interesting WORCS race in Hollister Hills, California. The track in Hollister is different from any other track we race because it goes in and out of the trees but it is also super slick and the ground is almost like concrete, which makes for a difficult racing surface.

The weekend started out pretty good and I felt really good all through practice and coming into the race I felt prepared and ready to go. When the gate dropped I got a really good jump and was inside the top ten going into the first turn. The first lap on the motocross track was kind of hectic because there was people going down in both the first and the second turn. Just before we entered the off-road section Bobby Bonds and I came together and his bike hit my front wheel and ended up bending my front disc. I rode the whole first lap with no front brake which was very sketchy in some places because Hollister has some slick and steep downhills.

At the end of the first lap I came into the pits in 9th for a new front wheel. My pit crew was on top of it and got me a new front wheel in less than 2 minutes. When I got back on I was in about 24th. I put my head down and just started to charge because I knew I had a lot of ground to make up. I passed people the whole race and moved up a position or two almost every lap. I was able to catch all the way up to 7th place by the checkered flag and I was only 12 seconds behind 6th and 30 seconds behind 5th.

This was not the result I was hoping for coming into this round but considering the circumstances the race went pretty well. I will be ready to go and get back up on the podium in a couple weeks at Honeylake, CA.

See you at the races,

Taylor Robert
